Why Time Management and Space Management Coaching?

Our grandparents and even our parents did not have the incredible number of choices or decisions to make at work or at home that we have to make in the 21st century. They did not have to manage the quantity of information that we do. Our schools have not caught up with the information overload phenomenon – so we haven’t been taught how to manage or navigate the high speed information highway in the workplace or in our personal lives.

Although there is no shortage of books, cds and organizing products available to us, knowing what to do and doing it automatically and consistently are two very different things. Individuals often need professional help to learn and internalize new behaviors. If the behavior you want has not manifested at the desired level already, it will seldom occur by itself.

How does it work?

As your coach, Maryellen works directly with you, assisting you in analyzing your situation and working with you step-by-step to get you from here to there, no matter what the task... The methodology – organizing from the inside out – ensures a system that is easy to acquire and maintain because it is based on your unique goals, natural style and habits. The fundamental thinking process is simple, but not simplistic.

Whether you are replying to an e-mail that just landed in your inbox, responding to a problem that just showed up for you to solve, or have a great idea that just popped into your mind—there are simple steps you can take so that you aren’t distracted and yet don’t lose your great ideas either.

Why does time management coaching work?

The attention you get is focused on your specific challenges, provides new strategies and tools, and requires you to take initiative by creating and implementing action plans between sessions.

The main reason that having a coach works is accountability from an outsider. Simply put, people are 10 times more likely to actually complete a task when they have an appointment with someone who is going to ask them about it. Maryellen is also your cheerleader, acknowledging and celebrating your successes.

Frequently asked questions

Who is time management coaching for?

What happens in a typical coaching session?
The coaching relationship begins with a 1-2 hour individualized assessment of your time management and/or organization skills and challenges. This session is an opportunity to define the client’s goals and priorities and to review the step-by-step process that will be followed. The sessions that follow focus on the specific goals defined in partnership between the coach and the client.

How long does it take?
It takes as long as the client needs to internalize new behaviors on an automatic and consistent basis. For many individuals participating in sessions every other week for three months can lead to lasting results. How long it takes depends on the nature of the challenges and goals for each individual and the amount of focused attention they give to the process between sessions.

Why do I need coaching?
If you are as productive as you want to be, as successful as you desire, and feel relaxed about the way you approach your work and life - you don’t need coaching. Consider this: individuals who have reached the highest levels of success in their field and life, who received one-on-one guided support, whether as an athlete working with a personal coach, an entrepreneur working with a business coach or singer working with a voice coach, surpassed what they could have done on their own..

Where are you located?
My office is in Ulster County, New York but sessions are usually held over the telephone and can be conducted from anywhere. Travel and length of sessions will determine fee for on-site coaching services.
